Trades Made:
Philadelphia Flyers trade 11th overall to Arizona for the 14th and 45th overall picks.
Best Pick:
Other than the obvious of the top 2 guys, the best pick for where he went in the draft has to be Cole Caufield. He is a pure goal scorer and Montreal got him at 15 I mean the guy scored 72 goals last year in 64 games. That is ridiculous for a guy that is 5 foot 7, I don't care how small he is he clearly knows how to put the puck in the net. He should have gone in the top 5-10 but Montreal got a steal here.
Worst Pick:
Detroit took defenseman Moritz Seider 6th overall in front of a lot of great prospects. Now don't get me wrong, Seider is going to be a solid defenseman but Detroit could have traded back here and got him a few picks later. They passed on Philip Broberg who I believe was the second best defenseman behind Byran Bowman. Like I said he isn't going to be bad by any means but this is the worst pick just for the fact that he went 6th overall.
Reaction:
There were a few surprises in the first round especially with how early some of the defenseman went but the biggest surprise was how far Cole Caufield dropped. Other than that we only had the one trade which was just some picks being moved. I thought we would see some more trades but it didn't happen. Rounds 2-7 are tomorrow starting at 1pm ET. you can watch those rounds live on the NHL Network.
