Philadelphia Eagles 2020 Schedule
The 2020 NFL schedules have been released and its time to dive in and take a look at how the Eagles season could pan out. With the new additions from free agency and the NFL Draft to go along with an already solid core with a Super Bowl under their belt, the 2020 Philadelphia Eagles will look to bring home the Lombardi Trophy once more. It'll be no easy task as Carson Wentz looks to lead the Eagles back to the postseason.
At first glance its a pretty nice schedule for the birds even with them starting on the road. There is a good thing about starting on the road in week 1 against the Redskins...The last time that happened the Eagles went on to win the Super Bowl. Could be the good omen they need after the injury riddled 2019 season. Their first three games fall on the easier side of things, but of course we all know anything can happen in the NFL. Come week 4 they have their first real test as they head out to San Fransisco to take on Jimmy G and the defending NFC Champion 49ers.
After the trip out west they come back east and have two games against the AFC North, as they take on the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens. I'm not too worried about the Steelers even with Big Ben back as QB. They aren't that great of a team anymore and the Eagles should take care of business. Week 6 is the start of a little bit of a tough stretch as they have to take on Lamar Jackson and the Ravens then three straight division games, two against the Giants and one against the Cowboys.
Now, the Giants don't scare me but division games are always tough especially when you play the same team twice in a short period of time. The one good thing is they have their Bye in week 9 so they will have an extra week to prepare for the 2nd game against the Giants.
After the Giants the Eagles head out to Cleveland to start a really tough 4 game stretch. Cleveland is a question mark because it will depend on the play of QB Baker Mayfield. On paper they are a good team and could be a problem for the Eagles. Then they have to take on the team they lost to in the playoffs, as Russell Wilson and the Seahawks come to town. We blow against the Seahawks, I mean it feels like we never beat them. Then after that they head out to Green Bay to take on Aaron Rodgers and the Packers. For this one I am a little less worried, the Packers are a good team but I think we matchup well against them and it will be a good test to see where this team is at. Finally, the toughest part of the schedule comes to an end as they come back home to take on Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints. I hate playing the Saints, like I really hate playing them. I hate them just as much as I hate playing the Seahawks. Drew Brees is one of the best QBs of all time and we always struggle against them for whatever reason. If they can survive these 4 games and come out with at worst a 2-2 record then as long as they don't screw up the beginning of the season they should still be in good shape.
Finally, we end the regular season with 2 straight road games and the season finale at home. First up is the Arizona Cardinals and I have already penciled that one in as a W. Call it premature but they stink. Yes, Kyler Murray will be in his second year and they added some weapons but they don't scare me, should be an easy win. Next up we have those sumbitches from Dallas for the 2nd time and it could be a game that will determine the division winner. It pains me to say this, like really pains me to say this (My hand cramped right here) the Cowboys are going to be good........It sucked typing that out and you'll never hear those words come out of my mouth but its true. This game will be a battle and it can go either way and it'll really come down to which team is playing better during that time of the year. The good news is the Eagles will be ending their season in front of us great fans(Hopefully, if Corona allows it) as they take on the Redskins in the last game of the season. Ideally, I would like to see Jalen Hurts starting this game because we feel like resting the starters and we have a first round bye. Probably not gonna happen but still. Either way this should be another win for the Eagles but again the division games are always tough.
So where does that leave us...well, I tried to take my fandom out of this and I mean I really tried....but Lane Johnson said it for me...
16-0 BABY!!!!!! LETS GO BIRDS!!!!!!! FLY EAGLES FLY!!!!!
Okay but really I'm saying with everyone healthy and this team playing the way I know they can and should they should go 10-6 or 11-5. Good enough for the playoffs and hopefully good enough for a division title. *quietly books ticket to Tampa*
