Stanley Cup Final Game 3 Preview

Meet me in St.Louis...The Stanley Cup Final shifts to the Enterprise Center as the St. Louis Blues play host to the Boston Bruins. With the series all even at one game a piece, both of these teams look to take a 2-1 lead heading into game 4. The Blues were able to pickup the overtime win Wednesday night thanks to a goal from Carl Gunnarsson. While the Bruins look to get momentum back on their side and try and steal one in St. Louis.

Game 2 was a tight checking, physical game from the puck drop. Look for game 3 to be even more physical as the bad blood is starting to boil in this series. The teams combined for 81 hits in game 2 In case you didn’t know that’s a lot of body’s being thrown around.

The Blues continued to play with fire with their undisciplined play in game 2. Once again giving the Bruins 5 powerplay opportunities just like In game 1. Boston was only able to capitalize on one of those opportunities making them now 2/10 on the powerplay for the series. St. Louis on the other hand, has only had 5 powerplay chances and has yet to score on any of them. It‘s only a matter of time before the Blues get burned because Boston is too skilled to have this many chances without scoring.

For game 3 look for the Blues to feed off the energy of their hometown fans as that place is going to be off the hook(is that still a cool saying?) I expect both teams to come out throwing their weight around trying to swing the momentum in their favor. Look for the big guys of St. Louis like Brayden Schenn, Patrick Maroon, and David Perron to get the party started as they have been racking up the hits early on. The Bruins won’t go down easy though as guys like Charlie Coyle, Charlie McAvoy, and even Torey Krug have been extremely physical all series long.

I picked the winning team in game 2 so I’m gonna try and keep that going here. The Enterprise Center is going to be electric and Gloria will be played loud and proud tonight. I’m picking the Blues to win this 4-1 and take the 2-1 lead.
