The Official Ginger Thread Mock Draft

Finally, NFL Draft night is here! After weeks of mock drafts and rumors tonight we will finally find out where some of the top college football players will land. Night one is always super exciting and right now with no sports going on I could not be more excited to watch the draft. Now I've already done some computer generated mock drafts but now it is time for my (Not so Expert) official mock draft. We're talking trades I think are going to happen and even some surprise picks that might take place. That's right here is how I think the first round of the NFL draft will play out...

1. Cincinnati Bengals- Joe Burrow(QB) LSU

-The most obvious pick here is Joe Burrow. The National Championship winning QB is the best QB in the draft and the Bengals would be crazy to pass on him. The Bengals get their franchise QB and will look to turn around the franchise..

2. Washington Redskins-Chase Young(EDGE) Ohio State

-The best DE in the country and any other year he is most likely the number 1 overall pick. Now as and Eagles fan I don't want to deal with Chase Young for the next decade I really don't. I think there is a possibility the Redskins trade back but I think the price is too high and no team is going to pull the trigger.

3. Miami Dolphins(Via Detroit Lions)-Tristan Wirfs(OL) Iowa

-Our first trade will be the 3rd overall pick as we have the Dolphins moving up to take Tristian Wirfs...The best tackle in the draft from Iowa. Now with the trade the Dolphins also keep the 5th pick which we will get to shortly. The Lions move down to get some more picks and the Dolphins help bolster their offensive line for their QB of the future...

4. New York Giants-Jedrick Wills JR.(OL) Alabama

-A bit of a surprise here with the 4th overall pick as the Giants don't go with the best player on the board and they take Jedrick Wills from Alabama to help protect their QB of the future in Daniel Jones. The Giants have a lot of holes to fill on the defensive side of the ball but their top weapons are on offense with Jones and Saquon Barkley. You have to be able to run the ball and protect your QB to win in this league and the Giants struggled with that last year. Wills will be a great help for the young QB and RB.

5. Miami Dolphins-Justin Herbert(QB) Oregon

-This might be the toughest pick in the draft. If the Dolphins are able to make the trade up to 3 and hold onto this pick they are taking a QB. But which QB will it be? We all know how great Tua Tagovalloa is but his injuries are a big question. Herbert is a great QB but didn't have the success that Tua did. I think the Dolphins take their chances on Herbert instead of Tua and his injuries. Either way if the Dolphins are making this pick a QB will be off the board.

6. Tampa Bay Buccaneers(via LA Chargers)-Andrew Thomas(OL) Georgia

-Another trade! That's right the Tampa Bay Buccaneers decide they need to move up so they can get someone to help protect their new QB Tom Brady. Andrew Thomas has been giving me a Jason Peters like vibe. He looks like he is going to be a solid offensive linemen for a long time and the Bucs needs all the help they can get for their line. Plus the Chargers only end up moving back 8 spots confident their guy will still be there.

7. Carolina Panthers-Derrick Brown(DL) Auburn

-The Panthers are another team with a lot of holes to fill on the defensive side of the ball. There will be plenty of great options here for them to choose from but a great defense is built on getting pressure on the QB. Derrick Brown is the man that will wreck havoc on offenses for years to come.

8. Arizona Cardinals-Isaiah Simmons(LB) Clemson

-The Cardinals luck out here as the best linebacker in the draft falls right into their lap with the 8th pick. Now he is projected to go pretty high and has even been talked about going in the top 5. It could happen but this is my mock draft and I have him slipping down to 8th. It has nothing to do with his talent just that the teams before the Cardinals have bigger needs at other positions. There is also a high possibility that the Cardinals trade out of this pick but for the teams that need LB help I think the price will be too high.

9. Jacksonville Jaguars-Jeffrey Okudah(CB) Ohio State

-The top CB on the board and the Jaguars snag him with the 9th overall pick. Okudah is another guy that has been talked about being a top 5 pick and he has the talent for sure but again I think the teams ahead of the Jaguars have bigger needs to fill. Now the Jaguars have a lot of spots to fill as well and QB is one of them even though they claim to be trusting Gardner Minshew this season. With the top three QBs off the board I don't think they reach on one here so they go with the best available player.

10. Cleveland Browns-Mekhi Becton(OL) Louisville

-The Browns need to protect Baker Mayfield its just that simple. They haven't done a great job of it the last two seasons and they need to start or he's never going to be the answer. They have plenty of weapons around him and now they need to make sure he can stand in the pocket and let it fly. Becton is an interesting player, I mean the dude is 6'7 324lbs and has a lot of potential but will need to work on some key elements of his game. He is a perfect fit for the Browns here at 10.

11. New York Jets-Josh Jones(OL) Houston

-WIth offensive lineman flying off the board the Jets don't want to miss out on getting on of the top ones in the draft. While they have other needs on both sides of the ball, Sam Darnold needs to have better protection in front of him. Jones is a solid player and will help improve the run game for the Jets and Levon Bell along with helping protect Darnold.

12. Las Vegas Raiders-CeeDee Lamb(WR) Oklahoma

-The first and best WR goes off the board here as the Raiders get Derek Carr a major weapon to help their offense. Even with some of the top CBs still on the board the Raiders would be dumb to pass on Lamb here and the only way they do is if a team trades up with them.

13. San Francisco 49ers-C.J. Henderson

-After getting picked apart in the Super Bowl the 49ers get some much needed help at the cornerback position. As they get the stud CB from Florida in C.J. Henderson. Having him learn from Richards Sherman will be a huge help for this young CB.

14. Atlanta Falcons (Via Los Angeles Chargers, via Tampa Bay Buccaneers)-Javon Kinlaw(DL) South Carolina

-The Falcons move up a few spots with the Chargers in order to grab Javon Kinlaw who is a stud defensive lineman. The Chargers have no problem with adding more picks and moving back only a few spots to get their guy.

15. Denver Broncos-Jerry Jeudy(WR) Alabama

-A young team with a decent young QB gets some much needed WR help here as they land Jerry Jeudy from Alabama. His knee injury is in the past and while it will effect his draft a little bit the Broncos are smart to make him their pick here.

16. Los Angeles Chargers(Via Atlanta Falcons)-Tua Tagovalloa(QB) Alabama

-The once top rated prospect coming into the draft has his night of waiting over as the Chargers finally land their QB of the future as Tua's injury history scares off other teams with QB needs. The Chargers are the perfect landing spot for him as he can spend a year behind Tyrod Taylor and learn the offense.

17. Dallas Cowboys- K'Lavon Chaisson(EDGE) LSU

-As an Eagles fan I hope whoever the Cowboys take with this pick ends up getting kicked out of the league or becomes the biggest bust of the draft...Chaisson is a solid player and was fun to watch at LSU and should be a great player in the NFL. But when he puts on that ugly ass star I will have to hate him just as much as the rest of the Cowboys.

18. Detroit Lions(Via Miami Dolphins)-Kristian Fulton(CB) LSU

-The Lions traded back in the draft to get more picks and they draft the replacement for Darius Slay as they take Kristian Fulton from LSU "aka DBU" He will be a solid CB in the NFL and brings the shutdown ability to the Lions defense. Expect him to be thrown into the fire right away.

19. Las Vegas Raiders-Trevon Diggs(CB) Alabama

-After getting help on the offensive side of the ball the Raiders get some help on the other side as they take Trevon Diggs from Alabama. A solid CB who will be a nice addition to the Raiders defense.

20. Jacksonville Jaguars-Henry Ruggs(WR) Alabama

-Another top WR off the board here as the Jags grab a WR to help take some of the pressure off of Gardner or whoever their QB might be. Ruggs is a stud and while his game may not translate to the NFL right away he should still end up being a pretty solid player.

21. Philadelphia Eagles-Justin Jefferson(WR) LSU

-The only player the Eagles should be focusing on if they don't plan on trading up is Justin Jefferson. He has elite potential and would be a great WR to pair with Carson Wentz. Yes, the Eagles have other needs but we need an impact player on offense and Jefferson is that guy.

22. Minnesota Vikings -Jeff Gladney(CB)TCU

-The Vikings traded their best WR for this pick along with others and instead of drafting his replacement they go with the other side of the ball and take CB Jeff Gladney out of TCU. A decent CB with loads of potential I just don't seem him as a year one starter.

23. New England Patriots-Denzel Mims(WR) Baylor

-If draftees had walkout songs and he didn't walk out to "This is why I'm Hot" he missed on a great opportunity. If you don't get that reference please educate yourself on music and one hit wonders. Anyway after losing their franchise QB Tom Brady there's is a massive gap in the Patriots offense. But, I think they will wait until next year for their next franchise QB and they go with Mims here.

24. New Orleans Saints-Kenneth Murray(LB) Oklahoma

-Arguably the 2nd best LB in the draft and the Saints get lucky he drops this far and they get a steal of a pick. He can and will make an immediate impact on a defense that desperately needs LB help.

25. Minnesota Vikings-Jalen Reagor(WR) TCU

-How do you replace a guy like Stefon Diggs? It won't be easy but Jalon Reagor has the potential to do it. After drafting a CB with their first pick they come back and get Kirk Cousin another weapon to help their offense.

26. Miami Dolphins-Xavier McKinney(S) Alabama

-After drafting a top offensive Lineman and their franchise QB it is time for the Dolphins to focus on the defense. That's why they draft Safety Xavier Mckinney with the 26th pick. Playing under Nick Saban and the great Alabama defense Mckinney shined and will look to continue to grow into a star safety with the Dolphins.

27. Indianapolis Colts(Via Seattle Seahawks)-Jordan Love(QB) Utah St.

-The Colts need a QB and the Seahawks love to trade back to get more draft picks. The Colts lost Andrew Luck last year after he just decided to retire and while Jacoby Brissett wasn't horrible, he isn't the future. While taking Love here might be a reach the Colts can't afford to wait around and hope that he is there in the 2nd round.

28. Baltimore Ravens-Cesar Ruiz(OL) Michigan

-The Ravens are a good team with a great QB and their main priority needs to be trying to protect Lamar Jackson at all cost. While they could go with a LB here, I think they go with Ruiz to help sure up their offensive line.

29. Tennessee Titans- A.J. Epenesa(EDGE) Iowa

-I firmly believe that the Titans were a fluke last year and they have a lot of holes to fill. The need pass rushers and Epenesa would be a huge get for them as he is one of the top pass rushers in the draft.

30. Green Bay Packers-Brandon Aiyuk(WR) Arizona St.

-As long as the Packers have Aaron Rodgers they will be a competitive team. So why not focus on giving him as many weapons as you can. That's why I have them taking Aiyuk here as it will give Rodgers another target to help spread the field.

31. San Fransisco 49ers-Laviska Shenault Jr.(WR) Colorado

-The 49ers came out and surprised a lot of teams last year and will look to build off that success this upcoming season. Adding a solid WR here to give Jimmy G more options is the smart move and Shenault would be a great fit for their offense.

32. Kansas City Chiefs- A.J. Terrell(CB) Clemson

-After winning the Super Bowl and not really losing any key parts the Chiefs don't have too many needs coming into this draft. Their defense and offense are both insane but here they take Terrell to give them some more help at CB. I also wouldn't be shocked to see them trade out of this spot.

So there ya have it the offical 2020 Ginger Thread NFL mock draft...Make sure you tune in for round 1 starting tonight at 8pm on ESPN. Let's see how accurate my mock is afterwards...
