Walsh's Winner's Wild Card Weekend
It's playoff time baby!!! That's right everybody Wild Card weekend is officially upon us and it doesn't get much better than playoff football. The first football weekend of 2020 and we have some great games ahead. First, let's go back to the last week of the regular season where we had one of the crazier weeks of the season....
Fitzmagic struck gold as the Dolphins knocked off the Patriots, which gave the Kansas City Chiefs a 1st round bye and forced the Pats to play on Wild Card weekend. Jameis Winston did the unthinkable and had the first ever 30(TDs) for 30(Ints) season in the NFL as he threw his 30th interception on a pick six in overtime to lose to the Falcons. The NFC East was finally decided, as the Eagles beat the Giants causing the Cowboys to miss the playoffs and Jason Garrett to lose his job. We had the 49ers and Seahawks battle it out in what was an incredible Sunday night game to end the season, as the 49ers topped the Seahawks to clinch the NFC West and a first round bye. An incredible week 17 to end an eventful regular season.
It is now time for Playoff football and we have four great games this weekend to kick things off. Tom Brady and the Patriots will look to start their title defense against Ryan Tannehill and the Tennessee Titans. Deshaun Watson and the Houston Texans will look to slow down Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills on the AFC side of things. As for the NFC, we have a rematch of the 2017 NFC Divisional game between Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints and Kirk Cousins Vikings. In the last game of the weekend Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks travel to Philadelphia for the second time this season to take on Carson Wentz and the Eagles. So sit back and relax, as starting Saturday afternoon you can watch playoff football for two straight days. But now, lets get into Walsh's Winner's for Wild Card weekend....
Houston Texans(4) vs Buffalo Bills(5)-Bills
New England Patriots(3) vs Tennessee Titans(6)-Patriots
The two AFC games were a little hard to pick, as these are two really good matchups. The Bills have proven all year they can play with the best of the best and the Texans are no easy task. Houston having home field really helps them out but I still think Josh Allen leads the Bills to their first playoff win since 1995. Bills 30-24
In the second game, the New England Patriots will look to prove they are still the best team in the NFL come playoff time. Tom Brady may be old, but you can never count him out and this year is no different. The Tennessee Titans however, will look to shock the world and knock off the defending champs in the first round. They are going to need a huge game out of Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry to have a chance. In the end though, I don't think it will be enough as the Patriots experience will lead them to another playoff victory. Patriots 27-24
New Orleans Saints(3) vs Minnesota Vikings(6)- Saints
Philadelphia Eagles(4) vs Seattle Seahawks(5)-Eagles
Now on the NFC side, we have Drew Brees vs Kirk Cousins in the first game and I don't think this one is going to be all that close. The Saints have looked unstoppable this year and they have so many weapons on offense. As for the Vikings, Kirk Cousins can never get it done when it matters most and Sunday will be no different. Expect Brees and Michael Thomas to light up the scoreboard agains the Vikings defense. Saints 45-17
In the last game of the weekend, the Seattle Seahawks take on the practice squad Philadelphia Eagles. Injuries have cursed the Eagles all season long but somehow, Carson Wentz has managed to lead them to the playoffs. In what will be his first playoff start, I expect Wentz and the Eagles to do what they've been doing and that is start slow. The defense will be there to bail them out for the most part as the Seahawks are pretty banged up as well. I think this will be the lowest scoring game of the weekend and while I am an Eagles fan and am a little biased, I think the Eagles pull this one out. I really like their chances in this one as they have been a great team at home and have been finding ways to win. Eagles 17-10
